EDUCATION
The European Union Music Examinations Board
EUMEB
Hollandia Nova works in association with The European Union Music Examinations Board. Until the foundation of the board, many European countries did not have a recognised and accredited music examination system. The benefits for such a system are obvious. It provides a comprehensive and graded syllabus ensuring that those who take the exams have received a broad musical education. This encompasses both the theory of music, practical performance skills, as well as listening ability. This also helps teachers and educators provide substantial goals for their students, and it in turn provides regular and obtainable goals for the students. Youth orchestras, music schools and conservatories all over Europe now have a regulated system for grading applicants. Musicians can receive diplomas from The Board helping them to obtain employment opportunities as well as recognition in the music industry. This provides both a supplement and an alternative to the conservatory diploma. As a supplement it provides conservatory students with the possibility of obtaining a diploma while still studying at the conservatories thus providing them with a qualification. This could also be in another field or instrument to their chosen Major at the conservatory or it may be in their chosen field of specialisation, thus providing the student with a qualification to enable teaching or performing employment, and thus furthering their study. For students who wish to obtain a degree or diploma in another subject, other than music, but also wish to develop and receive recognition for their musical abilities, the EUMEB diploma offers the perfect solution. Because they are judged on their ability, they can receive a conservatory standard diploma without being enrolled in a conservatory.
